Yahoo Sports and Apple TV partner for MLB and MLS altcasts

Yahoo Sports and Apple TV have announced a partnership to provide alternative broadcasts, or ‘altcasts’, for Major League Baseball (MLB) and Major League Soccer (MLS) matches.

For MLB, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman of Yahoo’s ‘Baseball Bar-B-Cast’ will host pregame shows and call the first two innings of the Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians game on September 4, and the Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets game on September 18. These initial innings will stream on Yahoo Sports platforms before transitioning to Apple TV for the remaining seven innings.

In MLS, comedians Alexis Guerrero and Christian Polanco from ‘The Cooligans’ will host altcasts for two matches: the Campeones Cup between Inter Miami and Cruz Azul on September 16, and an Inter Miami vs. FC Cincinnati match on October 28. These matches will be available in full on Yahoo Sports platforms and will feature various camera angles, including a referee cam and iPhone-shot footage.
