Yakisugi Cabin designed by Alki Architecture + Design Studio

Alki Architecture + Design Studio has completed the Yakisugi Cabin, a compact and transportable 40m² residence located in Wānaka, New Zealand. The project focuses on an architecture shaped by available resources, utilizing material constraints as a generative design tool.

The cabin integrates reclaimed materials, traditional craftsmanship, and high-performance contemporary construction techniques. The design aims to minimize the building's footprint on both the physical terrain and its broader material environment.
