Yakutia Airlines suspends ticket sales amid aircraft maintenance issues

Yakutia Airlines, a Siberian-based carrier, has suspended ticket sales for several regional routes within the Sakha Republic due to severe operational difficulties. The airline's last active turboprop aircraft, a Bombardier Q300, has been grounded following a technical issue with its right main landing gear.

The company is currently awaiting necessary replacement parts to return the aircraft to service. Ticket sales for certain routes in Yakutia have been halted from September 21 until October 24. While the Yakutia Ministry of Transport expects flights to resume in early October, service remains dependent on the successful procurement of parts.

In addition to aircraft issues, operations at Ust-Nera Airport have been suspended because the runways were deemed unsafe for takeoff and landing. These combined challenges highlight the ongoing difficulties within the Russian aviation sector regarding the maintenance of Western-manufactured aircraft. Following international sanctions related to the conflict in Ukraine, accessing original spare parts from manufacturers like Boeing, Airbus, and Bombardier has become increasingly difficult, forcing regional carriers to seek alternative supply methods.
