Yalova accidents claim a father and son, rescue two boaters after tanker collision

In Yalova, Turkey, a fatal electrocution occurred at a washing and greasing workshop in Kaytazdere when a 53‑year‑old father, Samim Okur, tried to rescue his 28‑year‑old son, Olcay Okur, who had been shocked. Both suffered electric burns and later died despite hospital treatment.

Later the same day, a water‑tanker vessel named Murat Bey collided with the private boat Dido off Yalova’s Dereağzı port. The boat sank, but its two occupants jumped into the sea and were rescued by nearby vessels. Both were reported in good health, and the tanker’s captain faces a legal investigation.

Both incidents prompted emergency response teams, with investigations underway for the workplace electrocution and the maritime collision.
