Yalvaç Courthouse concludes child abuse trial in record time

A court in the Yalvaç district of Isparta, Turkey, has concluded a sexual abuse case involving a child in less than one month, serving as a model for rapid judicial proceedings. Following an incident on August 14, 2026, the suspect, identified as R. K., was arrested on August 15. The indictment was accepted on September 1, and the case was decided during its first hearing on September 11.

The defendant received a total sentence of 10 years and 10 months in prison, consisting of 8 years and 4 months for sexual abuse and 2 years and 6 months for deprivation of liberty. The court also ordered the defendant's continued detention.

This rapid resolution, completed well within the projected 300-day target period, is being highlighted as an example of the ‘zero delay justice’ goal. Officials attributed the speed to effective investigation, precise planning, and strong coordination between institutions. The Yalvaç Courthouse has recently gained attention for other expedited rulings, including cases involving drunk driving and a corruption case involving a mayor.
