Yamaguchi Prefecture to host major tourism campaign in late 2026
Yamaguchi Prefecture and the JR Group will launch a large-scale tourism initiative known as the Yamaguchi Destination Campaign from October 1 to December 31, 2026. Under the catchphrase ‘Manpuku no Tabi: Oidemase Fuku no Kuni, Yamaguchi’, the campaign aims to promote the region's natural scenery, history, hot springs, and culinary offerings.
The campaign covers the entirety of Yamaguchi Prefecture, as well as Masuda City and Tsuwano Town in Shimane Prefecture. Key highlights include special railway experiences, such as the return of the C57 class steam locomotive, affectionately known as ‘Lady’, which will operate on the SL Yamaguchi line on weekends during the campaign period for the first time in six years.
Other featured rail services include the ‘〇〇 no Hanashi’ coastal train, the ‘Hanaakari’ luxury sightseeing train, and the ‘WEST EXPRESS Ginga’ overnight long-distance train. To facilitate travel, the campaign will offer expanded sightseeing passes and various promotional events in cities such as Fukuoka, Osaka, and Hiroshima.
