Yamaha announces EAD20 electronic acoustic drum module

Yamaha has announced the EAD20, a new Electronic Acoustic Drum module designed to bridge the gap between the entry-level EAD10 and the flagship EAD50. The system is designed to simplify the recording process for drummers by using a single stereo condenser microphone attached to the bass drum hoop to capture the entire drum set.

The EAD20 utilizes the SWX100 sound engine, the same technology found in the EAD50, providing high-quality sound processing. It features 51 presets and 200 user kits, allowing users to enrich acoustic drum sounds with various effects and samples. The module includes 252 built-in effects and supports up to nine external triggers for building hybrid kits.

For connectivity and workflow, the device includes a built-in USB audio interface and supports USB Type-C for direct computer connection. It is compatible with Yamaha’s dedicated apps, including ‘Rec’n’Share’ for recording and uploading videos, and ‘EAD Touch’ for intuitive sound editing. The product is scheduled for release on September 18.
