Yamaha announces VOCALOID7 release and AI Megpoid voicebank
Yamaha Corporation has announced the release of VOCALOID7, the latest version of its singing voice synthesis software, arriving on November 11. This marks the first major update to the series in approximately four years. The new release includes the VOCALOID7 Editor and the AI Megpoid voicebank, which utilizes the voice of singer and voice actress Megumi Nakajima to provide more natural and expressive vocal performances.
Crypton Future Media has also announced plans regarding Hatsune Miku V6 in coordination with Yamaha. The company is currently developing Japanese and English voicebanks for Hatsune Miku V6 that are compatible with VOCALOID7. These updates are expected to be provided free of charge to all existing Hatsune Miku V6 users in early 2027, with Chinese language support also under development.
Existing VOCALOID users can upgrade to the VOCALOID7 Editor at a discounted rate. For those who purchased VOCALOID6 Editor or the Hatsune Miku V6 Starter Pack after October 9, 2026, the upgrade to VOCALOID7 Editor will be effectively free through a promotional period ending December 20, 2026.
