Yamaha appoints new crew chief for Jorge Martin as 2027 MotoGP season approaches

Yamaha has named David Munoz, currently Alex Rins’ crew chief, to work alongside Jorge Martin for the 2027 MotoGP season. The move is intended to speed Martin’s adaptation to the new M1 regulations after he leaves Aprilia, where he won the 2024 world title, and joins the factory Yamaha squad with teammate Ai Ogura.

Separately, former MotoGP rider Alex Rins is exploring a switch to the Superbike World Championship for 2027. Rins is in talks with the Ducati‑backed Go Eleven team about a possible second Panigale V4 entry, with negotiations covering financial terms estimated at around €300,000. Team principal Remo Gobbi and manager Denis Sacchetti are involved in the discussions, which could shape Rins’ next career step beyond MotoGP.
