Yamaha unveils 2027 MotoGP roster: Martin, Ogura in; Quartararo, Rins out
Yamaha Motor Co. announced that the 2026 MotoGP season will be the final year for French rider Fabio Quartararo and Spanish rider Alex Rins with the factory team. Quartararo, who joined Yamaha in 2019 and won the 2021 world championship, will leave after eight seasons; he posted a farewell statement thanking the team and is widely expected to move to Honda. Rins, who entered the squad in 2024, also departs, with his future in MotoGP still unclear.
At the same time, Yamaha confirmed the signing of Spaniard Jorge Martín – the 2024 MotoGP champion and current points‑leader – and Japanese prospect Ai Ogura, who claimed his first MotoGP win at Assen in 2026. Both riders have signed two‑year contracts for the 2027 and 2028 seasons as the championship moves to a new 850 cc technical era. Managing Director Paolo Pavesio praised Quartararo as “one of the true legends of Yamaha MotoGP” and highlighted Martín’s proven championship‑winning experience and Ogura’s rapid development as key to the team’s renewed ambitions.
