Yamaha expands R-series supersport motorcycle lineup
Yamaha is expanding its supersport lineup with several new developments across different markets. In India, the company has launched the YZF-R2, a 204cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motorcycle producing 26.1 CV. The R2 is available in multiple trims, including a top-tier R2M variant featuring adjustable suspension and a bidirectional quickshifter. The model was recently showcased at the Madras International Circuit with participation from MotoGP riders.
In Japan, Yamaha announced a limited-production race base version of the YZF-R1. Designed exclusively for closed-circuit use, this model lacks road-legal equipment such as headlights, indicators, and mirrors. It is scheduled for release starting in February 2027.
Additionally, Yamaha has conducted test rides for the updated R-series in Taiwan, featuring the YZF-R7, YZF-R9, and a redesigned YZF-R3. The R3 features updated aerodynamics and Y-Connect connectivity, while the R7 has received chassis reinforcements and enhanced electronic rider aids.
