Yamaha leaks design of new urban electric scooter
Yamaha has filed a design patent in Japan for a new electric scooter aimed at urban commuters. The leaked images show a modern, angular styling with a flat floorboard, single‑piece seat, removable battery, central motor and a suite of practical features such as front LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a digital TFT/LCD instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, keyless start, regenerative braking and fast‑charging capability.
The scooter is positioned for global markets, with particular emphasis on India’s rapidly growing electric two‑wheel sector, where it would compete with models from Ather, TVS, Bajaj, Ola and Suzuki. No official launch date or model name has been announced, but the patent filing suggests Yamaha is moving toward commercialization of a premium‑styled urban EV.
