Yamaha opens pre-orders for new R-series motorcycle in India

Yamaha India has officially opened pre-orders for a new motorcycle in its R-series, which is widely expected to be the YZF-R2. The model is scheduled for a launch on August 27, 2026.

While official technical specifications have not been fully disclosed, the YZF-R2 is anticipated to feature a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a displacement between 200cc and 220cc. It is expected to produce approximately 25 horsepower, positioning it competitively against models like the KTM RC 200. The bike is likely to share a platform with the YZF-R15 V4 and may include features such as a Deltabox frame, upside-down front forks, dual-channel ABS, and potentially traction control and Y-Connect smartphone connectivity.

The estimated price for the vehicle ranges from 200,000 to 220,000 Rupees. Customers can currently place a refundable deposit of 10,000 Rupees via Yamaha’s website to secure priority delivery, though actual delivery times may exceed 45 days depending on availability.
