Yamaha PG-1 scooter trail eyes European launch

Yamaha has registered the name PG-1 for its scooter‑trail model in Europe and added an anti‑lock braking system (ABS), steps that suggest the company may bring the bike to the European market. The PG-1 was first introduced in 2023 in Thailand and subsequently sold in the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia. It features a 114 cc air‑cooled single‑cylinder engine, manual four‑speed transmission, and a fuel consumption of about 1.7 L per 100 km, giving a range of roughly 300 km on a 5‑liter tank.

The model is positioned as a low‑cost, lightweight off‑road scooter, priced around €1,180 in the Philippines (about 1,180 USD). It competes with Honda’s CT‑125/Hunter Cub concept and targets riders seeking a simple, economical vehicle for city use and light trail riding. Yamaha’s European registration and ABS addition indicate a possible shift from a Southeast‑Asian‑only offering toward broader global availability.
