Yamaha sales slump in Colombia as Honda leads Brazil motorcycle market

In July 2026 Yamaha's Colombian sales fell 9.16% year‑on‑year to 15,723 units, down from 17,308 the previous year, while the overall motorcycle market grew 17.59% and rivals such as Honda (+31.42%), TVS (+26.63%) and Bajaj (+25.41%) expanded. The decline is attributed to long delivery delays for popular models like the NMAX scooter, with wait times of 12‑18 months eroding customer patience.

In Brazil, Honda dominated the July 2026 sales ranking, with the CG 160 model recording 47,493 registrations and the brand occupying seven of the top ten spots. Yamaha placed two models in the top ten, the Lander 250 returning at 10th place with 3,906 units sold. The Brazilian market showed modest shifts in the middle of the ranking but confirmed Honda's continued leadership.

Both reports highlight divergent fortunes for the two Japanese manufacturers in Latin America, with Yamaha facing a strategic crisis in Colombia and Honda maintaining strong market share in Brazil.
