Yamaha teases upcoming R-series motorcycle for August launch

Yamaha has released new teaser material for its upcoming R-series motorcycle, which is scheduled for launch in India on August 27, 2026. While the company has not officially confirmed the model name, the campaign and design cues strongly suggest the new arrival is the Yamaha R2.

The teasers, featuring the hashtag #RInstinct, provide close-up views of the motorcycle’s design, including a sculpted fuel tank with the Yamaha tuning-fork logo and R-series style bodywork. Observers note the design may follow the philosophy of the R15 but with larger proportions, or potentially incorporate styling elements from the flagship R9, such as aerodynamic panels and layered bodywork.

Although official engine specifications remain unconfirmed, industry reports suggest the motorcycle will likely feature a single-cylinder engine in the 200cc to 250cc range. Yamaha has already opened pre-bookings for the model with a refundable token amount of ₹10,000.
