Yamaha updates Tricity 300 scooter with new airbag safety system
Yamaha has updated its Tricity 300 three-wheel scooter for 2026, introducing a rider airbag as a primary safety innovation. The airbag system is designed to deploy during frontal collisions, utilizing two G-force sensors located in the center of the scooter. The system weighs approximately 2 kilograms and is programmed to avoid accidental deployment during rear-end collisions or stationary falls.
To accommodate the airbag, the scooter's internal storage space has been repurposed. The updated model also features a redesigned front fairing with LED lighting, improved weather protection, and a more modern visual signature. Technological upgrades include a 4.2-inch color TFT display with smartphone connectivity via the MyRide app and Garmin StreetCross navigation support. Additionally, a new inertial sensor has been integrated to optimize ABS performance during cornering.
The Tricity 300 remains a notable option for commuters due to its ability to be operated with a standard car license in certain regions. The airbag version carries a price premium, noted in some markets as an additional 20,000 CZK.
