Yamata-ne Co., Ltd. has announced the ‘Japan Terraced Rice Fields Photo Contest 2026’. Hosted via the GANREF website, the competition seeks to capture the beauty, daily life, and ecological systems of Japan’s terraced rice fields, while also addressing modern challenges such as the shortage of successors in the industry.

Participants can submit digital images, including those taken with smartphones or scanned film, provided they are not AI-generated. The contest is open to residents of Japan. Prizes include gift certificates and terraced rice, with a grand prize of 100,000 yen in gift certificates and 10kg of rice. The submission period runs from August 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025, with a final deadline of November 2, 2026.
