Yamato launches limited edition Osechi sets featuring Oga seafood

Yamato, a company based in Nishiwaga, Iwate, has begun pre-orders for its ‘Yamato no Osechi 2027’. The limited release consists of only 50 sets, each featuring a single-tier box containing 25 different items designed for three people.

Prepared by Chef Shigeru Shibata of Yamato-oga, the meal focuses on seafood and local ingredients from the Oga region of Akita Prefecture. Featured items include Wagyu Namahage fillet steak, Oga-produced natural abalone, and Oga pufferfish. The set also includes local specialties such as Nanbu Kashiwa chicken gizzard confit and Hachiro Lake wakasagi fried in batter.

The meals are delivered frozen using CAS technology to maintain freshness upon thawing. They are presented in sustainable, custom-made Akita cedar boxes treated with a charred ‘yakisugi’ technique. An early bird discount is available for orders placed by October 31, 2026.
