Yambol Municipality proposes new traffic rules and budget updates

The Yambol Municipal Council is set to review a new ordinance proposed by Mayor Valentin Revanski aimed at improving traffic organization, parking, and pedestrian safety. The regulations include expanding the “Blue Zone” paid parking area and introducing strict rules for electric scooters. Under the proposal, electric scooters will be prohibited from sidewalks outside of designated bike lanes, in parks, gardens without cycling infrastructure, and on playgrounds or pedestrian-only spaces. Companies renting scooters must designate authorized parking areas in their apps and use technical solutions to prevent improper parking. Fines for violations could reach 200 euros.

To enhance safety, the municipality plans to install artificial bumps and speed-reduction measures near schools, kindergartens, and social service facilities. The ordinance also addresses temporary traffic management during construction and public events.

Additionally, the council will discuss budget amendments for 2026. Key proposals include the purchase of 15 new electric buses to modernize the city's public transport fleet and increasing capacity for the local elderly care home. Other budget items include funding for school infrastructure improvements and the acquisition of a drone for the Gendarmerie.
