Yamoussoukro: Investigation into death of Customs Sergeant-Chief Aimé Lamtou Coulibaly
The Prosecutor of the Toumodi Court of First Instance has released details regarding the death of Customs Sergeant-Chief Aimé Lamtou Coulibaly, whose body was recovered from a lake in Yamoussoukro on August 4, 2026.
Preliminary medical findings suggest the cause of death was drowning. Investigations indicate that on August 3, 2026, Coulibaly was involved in a road traffic accident. Following the collision, he was reportedly involved in an altercation with a group of individuals who struck him.
After the incident, firefighters transported Coulibaly and a passenger from the other vehicle to Saint Joseph Moscati Hospital. However, reports indicate that Coulibaly left the hospital before receiving medical care. He was seen at a police station the following morning before his body was discovered later that afternoon near the Afriquiya station.
While some media reports have suggested a blow to the back of the head during the altercation, official judicial communications have not yet confirmed this detail. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the death.
