Real Madrid's Yan Diomandé scores debut winner amid Vinícius Júnior red card

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory against Villarreal in La Liga, marked by a debut goal from 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé. Following a precise pass from Federico Valverde, Diomandé scored in the 64th minute, an achievement he emotionally dedicated to his late sister, Roxane, who passed away in 2025.

The match was also defined by a controversial moment involving Vinícius Júnior. After entering the game as a substitute, Vinícius appeared to score a second goal, but the play was overturned by VAR after a review showed him pulling the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba. This resulted in a red card for the Brazilian forward.

Manager José Mourinho’s tactical decision to start Diomandé over Vinícius has shifted the team's offensive dynamics. While Vinícius faces disciplinary scrutiny in La Liga, the upcoming Champions League fixture against Roma offers him a platform to regain form and visibility under Mourinho's management.
