Yan Diomandé faces scrutiny following €140 million Real Madrid transfer

Real Madrid's 19-year-old winger Yan Diomandé is facing intense scrutiny following his €140 million transfer from RB Leipzig. Despite the high price tag, the Ivorian international has recently begun to find his footing in La Liga, earning playing time in recent matches against Rayo Vallecano and Elche.

Kylian Mbappé has publicly defended the young recruit, noting that Diomandé possesses significant talent and is currently in a phase of building relationships within the squad. Mbappé emphasized that while critics focus on the transfer fee, the player's quality is evident.

The pressure on Diomandé intensified after social media comments from Loredana Zefi, wife of Barcelona player Karim Adeyemi, which many interpreted as a critique of Diomandé's performance relative to his cost. Diomandé responded via a TikTok video featuring lyrics about facing criticism while continuing to rise.
