Yan Diomandé joins Real Madrid in record €125 million transfer

Yan Diomandé, a 19-year-old attacker from Ivory Coast, has officially joined Real Madrid following a record-breaking transfer from RB Leipzig. The deal is valued at approximately €125 million ($144.3 million), making him the most expensive African player in football history. Diomandé signed a seven-year contract with the Spanish club.

Diomandé recently made his official La Liga debut on August 22 in a 2-1 victory against Espanyol. During the match, he entered in the 64th minute and provided an assist to Kylian Mbappé. This follows a successful pre-season appearance in a friendly against Schalke 04.

The Ivorian international arrives in Madrid after a standout 2025-26 season in the Bundesliga, where he was named Best Young Player. His career has seen him move from Abidjan to football academies in the United States before finding success in Germany. Following his debut, former Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was noted to have followed the young player on Instagram.
