Yan Diomandé struggles for playing time at Real Madrid

Yan Diomandé is struggling to secure a starting position at Real Madrid despite his high-profile arrival. Following a significant transfer fee of 125 million euros, the 19-year-old Ivorian attacker has seen limited playing time under manager José Mourinho.

In La Liga, Diomandé has played only 83 minutes out of a possible 360, representing approximately 23% of the team's available minutes. He currently sits behind Brahim Díaz and Arda Güler in the offensive hierarchy. Notably, Mourinho opted to start Díaz in a recent Champions League match against Inter Milan rather than Diomandé, even when opportunities arose due to player absences.

Mourinho has called for patience, stating that the player must progress ‘step by step’ due to his late arrival at the club. Prior to joining Real Madrid, Diomandé was a primary target for PSG, though the French club withdrew from negotiations due to what they deemed ‘totally disproportionate’ financial demands.
