Yan Diomande faces limited minutes at Real Madrid

Real Madrid winger Yan Diomande is facing scrutiny following a high-profile transfer from RB Leipzig worth between $135 million and €140 million. Despite his successful tenure in the Bundesliga and performances for Côte d’Ivoire, the 19-year-old has struggled to secure significant playing time in La Liga.

To date, Diomande has recorded only 83 minutes of play across four appearances, all as a substitute. While some critics have pointed to a lack of tactical maturity, manager Jose Mourinho has called for patience. Mourinho noted that the difficulty in securing a starting role is due to the high level of competition within a star-studded squad, stating, “If he was in a team with fewer high-potential players, he’d surely play the full 90 minutes of every match.”

Real Madrid’s management appears to view the young winger as a long-term investment, prioritizing his development over immediate starting minutes in a lineup filled with established veterans.
