Yan Diomande joins Real Madrid in record-breaking transfer
Real Madrid has completed the record-breaking transfer of 19-year-old Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. The deal includes a fixed fee of €125 million, which could rise to €140 million through various bonuses. This transaction makes Diomande the most expensive African player in football history, surpassing the previous record held by Nicolas Pépé.
As part of the agreement, RB Leipzig will also participate in a training match against Real Madrid, a clause that could trigger an additional €1.3 million payment if a date cannot be set. Diomande has signed a seven-year contract with the Spanish club, tying him to Madrid until 2033. He has also entered a separate three-year brand ambassador agreement with Red Bull.
The transfer has significant implications for Roc Nation Sports, the agency owned by Jay-Z, which represents Diomande. Reports suggest the agency could earn up to €20 million in commissions and fees from the deal. The move follows a period of high financial performance for Real Madrid, which reported record operating revenues of €1.221 billion for the 2025/26 season, supported by major sponsorship renewals with Adidas and Emirates.
