Yanartaş natural flames continue to attract tourists in Antalya

Yanartaş, a natural phenomenon located within the Beydağları Coast National Park in Çıralı, continues to draw significant interest from both domestic and international tourists. Situated along the Lycian Way hiking route, the site features flames emerging from rock crevices, a phenomenon linked to natural gas leaks.

Recent observations indicate that while flames persist in several rock fissures, some previously active spots have gone out. The cause for these specific extinctions has not yet been determined. Visitors, many of whom are foreign hikers, frequently stop at the site to observe the flames, photograph the historical ruins, and engage in activities such as roasting marshmallows.

Scientific research, including studies by experts from Süleyman Demirel University, has attributed the phenomenon to natural gas escaping from underground. The origin of the gas and its interaction with the surface has been a subject of international scientific interest.
