Yanet Dowden linked to illegal ammunition smuggling in Sonora

A federal judge has linked Yanet Dowden, an American citizen, to a criminal process for the illegal introduction of 5,445 cartridges for firearms reserved for exclusive use by the Mexican Armed Forces.

The seizure occurred at the San Luis Río Colorado border customs in Sonora. During a vehicle inspection by the National Guard and customs personnel, authorities discovered a hidden compartment beneath the rear seats containing the ammunition.

Investigations suggest Dowden may have served as a logistics operator for the “La Mayiza” faction, a group associated with Ismael Zambada Sicairos. Dowden has been ordered to undergo pretrial detention while the investigation continues.
