Yang Xiaoli warns of LINE scam after mother's account compromised
Taiwanese entertainer Yang Xiaoli has issued an urgent warning after her mother, who also serves as her manager, fell victim to a LINE messaging scam. The incident occurred when the mother clicked a fraudulent link disguised as a voting request for a drawing competition, which was sent from the compromised account of director Chu Yen-ping.
Following the click, the mother's LINE account was logged out and subsequently seized by scammers. To prevent further misuse, Yang Xiaoli coordinated with LINE customer service to have the compromised account destroyed rather than attempting to recover it. Due to the security breach, the associated phone number is now blocked from registering a new LINE account for two months.
Yang Xiaoli, acting in her capacity as an anti-fraud ambassador, emphasized the importance of publicizing such incidents to educate others on evolving social engineering tactics. She advised that victims should not attempt to handle these situations privately but should instead report them immediately to official services.
