Yango Ride reports 31% global decline in serious traffic violations

Yango Ride has released its 2024–2025 Safety Report, claiming a 31% global reduction in serious traffic violations. The company attributes this decline to technological implementations, including GPS speed monitoring, identity verification, and fraud controls.

In the Middle East and South Asia, reckless driving incidents reportedly fell by 47%. The report also highlights the impact of privacy-protecting communication tools, such as number masking and in-app calling. These features led to a 31% decrease in post-trip contacts in Pakistan, while reductions were even more pronounced in Peru (81%) and Colombia (78%).

To combat fraud, Yango expanded selfie-based identity checks and blocked over 17,000 passenger accounts during the reporting period. Despite these internal safety claims, regulatory scrutiny remains high; Qatar’s Ministry of Transport recently identified multiple violations during inspections, fueling a debate over whether app-based safety systems are sufficient without stringent external oversight.
