Yangtze River Civilization Forum to convene in Chongqing

The 2026 Yangtze River Civilization Forum is scheduled to be held on September 15 at the Chongqing Yue来 International Convention Center. Co-hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the forum's theme is ‘Crossing Rivers and Seas, Mutual Learning Among Civilizations.’

The event aims to facilitate dialogue between the Yangtze River civilization and other major river civilizations, such as the Nile and the Amazon. Representatives from nearly 20 countries, including Egypt, Brazil, India, the UK, the US, Germany, and Australia, are expected to attend the opening ceremony. Key topics will include sustainable basin development, transnational river governance cooperation, and the contemporary value of great river civilizations.

In addition to keynote speeches, the forum will feature a variety of activities, including the 2026 World Great River Song Festival and the 2026 World Great River Poetry Festival, to showcase the cultural heritage of the Yangtze River through diverse scenarios.
