Fernanda Tapia faces scrutiny over 25 million peso reported income

Fernanda Tapia, the Director General of Radio Educación in Mexico, is facing scrutiny following the release of her 2025 patrimonial declaration. Reports indicate she earned a net income of approximately 25.5 million pesos during that year.

Of this total, roughly 19.8 million pesos came from the sale of assets, while 3.8 million pesos were attributed to professional services, including consultancies and advisory roles. This stands in contrast to her annual salary as director, which is reported to be approximately 1.8 million pesos.

Critics and media reports have raised concerns regarding her simultaneous professional activities in other media outlets while leading the public broadcaster, which is currently facing budget shortages, maintenance issues, and salary delays. Tapia has responded via social media, stating that as a public official, the Secretariat of Culture will be responsible for issuing an official stance on the matter.
