Yanis Varoufakis rejects coalition with Alexis Tsipras
Yanis Varoufakis, the leader of the MeRA25 party, has launched a sharp critique of the Greek political landscape, specifically targeting former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and opposition leader Nikos Androulakis.
Speaking on the OPEN television network, Varoufakis dismissed the possibility of a coalition government involving Tsipras, stating, “I prefer death” over such an arrangement. He criticized Tsipras for distancing himself from the progressive camp following the referendum and accused him of catering to powerful interests.
Varoufakis also noted that the political differences between Androulakis and Tsipras are minimal, particularly regarding issues like energy cartels and wealth taxation. Additionally, he highlighted MeRA25’s proposal for a 1% “patriotic contribution.”
