Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon to begin rehab assignment
The New York Yankees will send left‑handed starter Carlos Rodón to Triple‑A Scranton/Wilkes‑Barre for a brief rehab start on Saturday. Rodón, who last pitched on June 28 before being placed on the injured list with left elbow inflammation, is expected to throw around 50 pitches as he works toward a return.
Manager Aaron Boone said the club could “piggyback” Rodón, meaning an early activation is possible given the Yankees’ schedule, which includes several idle days. Rodón previously underwent surgery in October to remove loose bodies from the elbow and received platelet‑rich plasma injections. Before the injury he was 4‑2 with a 3.30 ERA in nine starts.
The Yankees’ rotation, featuring Gerrit Cole, Cam Schlitter, Will Warren, Ryan Weathers and Max Fried, currently ranks third in MLB with a 3.48 ERA. The team used a similar fast‑track approach with Fried earlier in the season.
