Yankoba Diémé announces military hospital project in Bignona

Senegalese Minister of Armed Forces Yankoba Diémé has concluded a five-day tour of the Casamance region, specifically visiting areas within the Ziguinchor region including Diouloulou, Madina Daffé, Kabadio, and Bignona. During the visit, Diémé met with religious and customary leaders to convey messages from President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and to gather local grievances.

A major announcement from the tour is the planned construction of a level 2 military hospital in Bignona. This project is part of a pilot program to build 20 such hospitals across Senegal through cooperation with China, involving both the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Armed Forces. The initiative aims to address medical shortages and territorial inequalities in healthcare access.

In addition to healthcare, the Minister discussed infrastructure developments, including the Bignona-Diouloulou road and the Kataba-Dar Salam section. Diémé also addressed local political engagement, noting that the tour served to strengthen ties between the administration and the populations of Casamance.
