Sturm Graz and Altach embroiled in transfer dispute

A transfer dispute involving player Yann Massombo has caused significant tension between Austrian Bundesliga clubs Sturm Graz and SCR Altach. Massombo, an offensive midfielder for Altach, refused to travel with his team for an away match against Sturm Graz, citing a desire to transfer to the Graz-based club.

Altach officials and coach Ognjen Zaric expressed frustration, alleging that Sturm Graz had made direct contact with the player without an official club-to-club inquiry or offer. Zaric criticized the situation as being ethically and morally questionable, calling for the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) to investigate the matter under its legal and disciplinary regulations.

Sturm Graz coach Fabio Ingolitsch acknowledged interest in Massombo, describing him as an interesting player, but maintained that the dispute was a matter for Altach to manage. Sturm Graz ultimately secured a 1-0 victory in the match. Meanwhile, in other Bundesliga action, Austria Lustenau prepared to face Wolfsberger AC following a recent loss to GAK.
