Yannick Noah reveals being targeted by 1980s romance scam

Former tennis champion Yannick Noah has revealed in an interview with The Telegraph that he was a victim of a long-term romance scam during the height of his fame in the 1980s.

Following his historic 1983 Roland Garros victory, Noah described feeling a profound sense of loneliness despite his sudden national stardom. He was targeted by a woman using the pseudonym ‘Miranda Grosvenor,’ later identified as American Whitney Walton. Walton posed as an international model and socialite, conducting her interactions with Noah exclusively via telephone.

Noah stated that he was seduced by the idea of a ‘dream woman’ and subsequently sent her money, jewelry, and various luxury gifts. Walton is described as having targeted numerous high-profile individuals, including actors, musicians, and politicians, through similar deceptive tactics.
