Yannick Schwaller leads playoff charge at Penticton Curling Classic
World No. 1 ranked curler Yannick Schwaller of Switzerland is competing in the Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic in British Columbia. Schwaller, who recently won an Olympic bronze medal, entered playoff action after a 4-0 round-robin performance, including a 9-5 victory over Canadian two-time world champion Kevin Koe.
The tournament features a high-profile field of 24 skips, including 2026 Olympians Oskar Eriksson of Sweden and Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi of Japan, as well as Canadian champion Brendan Bottcher. The event offers a $100,000 purse, making it one of the largest prize pools for a non-Grand Slam tournament. Competitors are using the event to prepare for the upcoming Grand Slam season starting in Victoria on October 13.
