Yantai Cherry Association to debut 30+ new varieties

The Yantai Cherry Association is set to showcase over 30 new and improved cherry varieties at the 24th International Fruit and Vegetable and Agricultural Supplies and Seedling Expo in Yantai, Shandong, scheduled for November 13–16, 2026.

New varieties focus on addressing consumer preferences for sweetness and texture. The ‘Ming 5-5’ variety is noted for being purely sweet without acidity, reaching sugar levels of 27 degrees at full maturity. Other highlighted varieties include ‘Xiangfei’, which features a high soluble solid content of 22% and a crisp texture, and ‘Yingfei’, which produces large fruits weighing up to 17.5 grams.

The introduction of these varieties aims to extend the seasonal window for Yantai cherries, with ripening periods now stretching from early June through late June.
