Yantai hosts nuclear power marine protection and monitoring forum

An exchange meeting focused on marine area usage, intelligent monitoring of marine life, and protection engineering under carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals was held in Yantai. The event, part of the 2026 National Ecology Day Shandong Exchange and Yantai Carbon Neutrality Forum, took place at the Yantai International Expo Center.

The conference brought together nearly 100 experts and representatives from major nuclear power entities, including China National Nuclear Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation, and China General Nuclear Power Corporation. It also included researchers from the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Yantai Institute of Coastal Zone Research, and various academic institutions.

Discussions centered on key technical areas such as nuclear power marine area management, cold source safety protection, intelligent monitoring equipment, and engineering practical applications. Experts shared advancements in marine biological acoustic detection, jellyfish monitoring and early warning technologies, and the application of information-physical fusion technology to ensure the safety and green operation of nuclear power plants.
