Yantai leadership reshuffle and Guangzhou district plans drive China's 15th Five-Year agenda
On August 6, Yantai held a city‑wide meeting on the replacement of district and township leadership teams. Jiang Cheng, deputy director of the provincial People's Congress Standing Committee and party secretary of the city, stressed the need for high standards, strict political criteria and disciplined oversight to ensure the changes support the "15th Five‑Year" goals and the construction of a modern, green, high‑quality city. The meeting outlined tighter candidate screening, stronger party‑state leadership, and reinforced supervision to maintain a clean and transparent transition.
The same day, Guangzhou’s government hosted a press conference presenting the "15th Five‑Year" outlines for the Yuexiu, Liwan and Baiyun districts. Officials highlighted ambitious targets: annual GDP growth above 5%, fixed‑asset investment exceeding 500 billion yuan, and the creation of large‑scale industrial clusters in biomedicine, high‑end manufacturing and services. Infrastructure upgrades, new educational slots, and health‑service expansions were also detailed, aiming to boost livability and economic dynamism across the city’s core areas.
