Yantai starts early‑pregnancy care and child nutrition education
On July 30, the Yantai Health Service Center and Yantai Maternal and Child Health Hospital organized a World Population Day event at the hospital’s early‑pregnancy clinic. The program provided free consultations, health education, and one‑on‑one guidance on early‑pregnancy symptoms, contraception, risks of unintended pregnancy, abortion complications and repeated miscarriage, aiming to improve reproductive health knowledge among women of child‑bearing age.
Organizers distributed brochures, free contraceptive supplies and offered psychological counseling, emphasizing preventive care and integrating medical services with public‑health outreach.
Earlier, on July 17, a student team from the Food and Bioengineering College of Yantai Institute of Technology visited Yantai Zhongzheng Kindergarten. Using pictures, stories and interactive quizzes, they taught preschool children about a balanced diet, the dangers of high‑sugar, high‑fat and high‑salt snacks, and how to choose healthy foods, seeking to instill healthy eating habits from an early age.
Both initiatives reflect local authorities’ effort to boost health literacy and preventive practices in Yantai.
