China honors “Most Beautiful Doctors” on ninth Doctor's Day

To mark the ninth China Doctor's Day, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the National Health Commission released the “Most Beautiful Doctors” list, honoring nine medical professionals for their dedication to public health. Notable honorees include Academician Hou Fanfan, a kidney disease expert who has rewritten international clinical guidelines four times, and various doctors serving in remote or specialized roles.

Across China, medical professionals are engaging in diverse efforts to improve healthcare accessibility. In Shandong province, cities like Haiyang and Yantai are hosting large-scale free clinics and health education programs, bringing specialists from top-tier Beijing hospitals to grassroots communities. Meanwhile, medical aid teams are working in challenging environments, such as Tibet and Chongqing, to provide specialized surgical expertise and training to local staff in underserved mountainous regions.

Other highlighted efforts include the work of university-educated village doctors in rural areas and military medical personnel providing emergency assistance in high-stakes situations. These initiatives reflect a broader national strategy to strengthen the primary healthcare system, promote medical resource distribution to lower-tier regions, and integrate advanced technology with traditional medical practices.
