Yanuna tourism project in Punta Macao to invest US$1 billion

The Yanuna tourism project has commenced construction in Punta Macao, La Altagracia province, representing a total planned investment of US$1 billion across multiple development stages. The project, which was presented in an event led by President Luis Abinader, aims to expand the Dominican Republic's luxury tourism offerings.

The first phase includes the construction of two Marriott International hotels: The Ritz-Carlton Yanuna, which will be the first of its brand in the country, and Casa Mirayá, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Together, these establishments will provide 548 rooms. The initial stage also features 25 luxury residences.

Project leaders expect operations to begin in 2029. The development is estimated to generate approximately 1,500 direct jobs during the construction phase and over 1,600 permanent positions once operational. Developers have committed to prioritizing local hiring and national suppliers while implementing measures to preserve the area's natural features, including dunes, mangroves, and sea turtle nesting sites.
