YAO project releases new song addressing Okinawan history

The musical project YAO, consisting of Awich, CHICO CARLITO, ONE OK ROCK, and Paledusk, has released a new song titled ‘Arifureta Sekai no Hate ni’ (At the End of an Ordinary World) on September 4.

The track was developed through dialogue between the members, focusing on the history and culture of Okinawa. The project aims to address the complex realities and historical scars faced by the people of Okinawa while conveying a message of peace. Taka of ONE OK ROCK reportedly explored new melodic territory to resonate with these themes, creating a collaborative work that bridges the diverse backgrounds and roots of all four participating artists. A music video for the song is currently in production.
