Yaoundé: Body of 18-year-old girl found buried in family garden

The body of 18-year-old Valérie Nkwanga was discovered buried in the garden of her family home in the Nkoabang neighborhood of Yaoundé, Cameroon. The young woman, a recent high school graduate, had been missing for approximately two weeks.

Investigations began after family members noticed a strong odor coming from the back of the property. While initial explanations suggested a dead animal had been discarded there, the discovery of human remains led to the involvement of firefighters and security forces. The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

Authorities are currently searching for the victim's 17-year-old maternal uncle, Awang, who had been living with the family for two years and was the only person present at the home during her disappearance. Investigators noted suspicious circumstances, including the victim's phone being found completely wiped of all data.
