Yaoundé to host Women’s Climate Assembly in 2026
Yaoundé, Cameroon, is scheduled to host the fourth regional Women’s Climate Assembly (WCA) from October 5–8, 2026. Under the theme ‘Our lands, our voices: African women united for climate justice and reparations!’, the event aims to unite women from West and Central Africa to strengthen an ecofeminist movement.
Organizers emphasize that while Africa contributes minimally to global greenhouse gas emissions, women in rural, coastal, and forest areas face disproportionate impacts from climate change. The assembly seeks to address the climate debt owed by historically polluting nations and multinationals to the continent. Key objectives include promoting women’s leadership, fostering shared strategies for climate justice, and advancing calls for climate reparations and sustainable resource management.
