Yaqut Cholil Qoumas denies Hajj quota corruption allegations
Former Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, has denied allegations of corruption regarding the 2024 additional Hajj quota. During a hearing at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Yaqut asserted that he never received any funds or issued orders to collect fees for the acceleration of special Hajj pilgrims for the 2023–2024 period.
Yaqut stated that testimony from witnesses, including representatives from the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) and the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH), as well as Special Hajj Organizers (PIHK), has clarified the flow of funds and supported his defense. He expressed confidence that the judicial process would reveal the true recipients of the alleged funds and provide justice.
