Yari Verschaeren has addressed his summer departure from Anderlecht to join Sampdoria, revealing that the Belgian club's contract renewal offer was merely a “courtesy” gesture.

The 25-year-old midfielder stated that while he was willing to accept a salary reduction, the primary reason for his decision was the feeling that the club no longer counted on him. He expressed that this lack of confidence from the club where he developed as a talent was personally hurtful.
